Police: Three 14-year-olds Charged For Trying to Steal Cars From Atlantic City, NJ, Casino Garage
Three 14-year-olds from Atlantic City have been charged for allegedly breaking into and attempting to steal cars at a casino parking garage.
The Atlantic City Police Department says last Friday night, several of their detectives encountered a group of young men walking in the area of Connecticut and Wabash Avenues.
The detectives were investigating a series of car burglaries that had occurred the day before in the parking garage of Bally's.
Police say three Kias were burglarized and vandalized. The suspects attempted to steal the vehicles causing damage to the steering column.
After stopping the group, two males were identified as being involved in the burglaries and were arrested. One male was found in possession of a USB cable which is commonly used to steal Kia and Hyundai vehicles. The second male was found in possession of a screwdriver which is used to turn the ignition and break the steering column. A third male was found in possession of credit cards that were later determined to have been stolen.
Charges
Two of the 14-year-olds were charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of criminal mischief, and possession of burglar tools, and released into the custody of a parent with a future court date.
The third 14-year-old was charged with receiving stolen property and issued a summons with a future court date.

The Atlantic City Police Department is distributing free steering wheel locks to Hyundai and Kia owners in an effort to deter the theft of those vehicles.
Simply bring your affected vehicle or a copy of your registration and your driver's license to the Public Safety Building at 2715 Atlantic Avenue and you can get a free lock.
Steering wheel locks can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM.
