Shocking images are making the rounds on social media of a New Jersey dog who has been so malnourished that she weighs less than a third of what she should.

According to our sister station New Jersey 101.5, this past Saturday, Paterson animal control officers were called out when a mother and daughter spotted a female pit bull who was so underweight that she was only skin and bones.

Dubbed "Reese", she was brought to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, who have been keeping the public updated on her progress since the weekend rescue.

While the shelter works to nurse Reese back to health, officials are trying to track down those responsible.

If you have any information, Paterson Animal Control officer John DeCando asks the public to call Paterson Police at 973-321-1111.
