Pedestrian survives after being hit by a car in Manchester Township
A pedestrian who was hit by a car while walking along the shoulder Thursday night around 6 pm on Route 37 suffers non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Derk Gardenier, 63, of Toms River was heading west on Route 37 and hit Thomas Vicente, 45, of Manchester as he tried turning his 2014 Honda CRV into Commonwealth Plaza.
The Honda came away unscathed as did the driver Gardenier who refused medical attention.
Vicente told emergency responders he had some pain to multiple areas of his body and he was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.
This crash is currently under investigation.
