Pedestrian sent to hospital after being hit by car at Manchester ShopRite
A pedestrian needed hospitalization for minor injuries after being hit by a car in the parking lot of the ShopRite on Route 70 in Manchester Saturday.
Police arrived around 1:10 pm to the Manchester Shop Rite located at 1001 Route 70 for the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
Officers found 65-year-old, Daniel Orpel, of Manchester suffering from non-life threatening injuries in the parking lot.
A 2013 Honda Civic nearby had some minor front end damage.
Police say Orpel was pushing a shopping cart through the parking lot when the Honda which was being driven by 80-year-old, Patricia O’Neill of Manchester made a wide left hand turn into a parking aisle.
As O'Neill did, she struck Orpel’s shopping cart which caused him to be thrown to the ground.
Orpel was transported by Quality Medical Transport to Community Medical Center where he was treated for the complaint of neck, back and hip pain.
O’Neill was uninjured in the crash.
This crash is currently being investigated by Patrolman Anderson of the Manchester Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
