Pedal Around Nature On Fantastic Rail Bikes in New Jersey

If you are looking for a very cool outdoor activity that combines beautiful scenery and exercise, then you may want to try rail biking. What exactly is rail biking? It is riding special bikes along rail tracks. First of all, yes it's on old railroad tracks that do not have any train traffic and they are specially adapted bikes that are made to ride along the rail. The photos in this article are ones I took when we visited a rail bike trail in New York. It was the first time we ever tried this and we loved it. Now that there are rail bikes in South Jersey we want to visit this location.

According to Only In Your State, "New Jersey's one and only rail bike trail can be found at the beautiful Garrett Family Preserve at Cape Island Creek." This location is in beautiful Cape May. "Your four-mile out-and-back journey will take you past creeks and salt marshes, through wildflower fields, and alongside green, grassy meadows. It's a scenic trek!" They even have a really cool ride called "Moonlight Ride" which sounds like a very cool variation to the daytime treks.

If you want to head to Cape May and give it a try keep in mind the riding guidelines. "A family-friendly day trip activity, rail bikes can fit 2 or 4 riders. Children age 4 and up can ride on their own, with seatbelts. Children under age 4 can ride in a front-mounted carrier." This is a great way to get outdoors and see some of the most beautiful locations in New Jersey. We totally loved our experience in Hadley, New York. Now we want to do the Cape May experience.
