It seems in today's world, we have to pay for parking wherever we go, so it's not surprising that here in New Jersey, some are considering having you pay when you shop.

Here are just a few of the comments that readers submitted:

"So how on earth is this going to help ordinary people with the cost of living crisis. This is only going to squeeze them out of being able to afford food and groceries more."

"No way! I’ll drive to another town for groceries. And interesting they’re showing the King’s parking lot since their prices are already ridiculously high"

“Manage overcrowding” when there are more and more apartment buildings being built everywhere so you’re gonna punish people who want to move into the “overcrowded” apartment complexes to go grocery shopping and feed their families"

"You can add time limits on parking, but then the stores also need to add more staff so I'm not spending 30+min waiting in line just to pay for my 4 items"

According to reports, supporters of this idea say it will help improve turnover in busy parking lots and manage overcrowding.

We would love to get your opinion. Sound off and let us know what you think. Do you support the idea, or do you think it would push you away from shopping?

By the way, if this was an April Fool's joke, well, they got us all! lol
