Police Department Spokesman Kevin Faller said Officers Raheem Carter and Kyle Kane were dispatched to the parking lot of a 7-Eleven convenience store located on Deal Road in reference to a woman in labor Wednesday evening at around 5:49 p.m. When they arrived, the officers found the 28-year-old Lakewood woman in the back seat of the taxi cab in active labor.

Faller said the officers contacted EMS personnel but the baby wouldn't wait. The mother

began giving birth while EMS was in route. Officers Carter and Kane helped her to successfully deliver the baby boy five minutes later. Shortly after the delivery, the Oakhurst First Aid and MONOC paramedics arrived and transported the mother and infant to the Monmouth Medical Center.
