According to a recent alert from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, scammers are calling residents pretending to represent the Sheriff's Office and asking for money.

Yes, you read that right, fake calls claiming to collect donations or fees on behalf of law enforcement.

It seems like every week there’s a new scam to worry about. From fake IRS calls to package delivery schemes, now scammers are targeting people under the guise of trusted local authorities.

It’s alarming how convincing these fraudsters can be, especially to the elderly or anyone caught off guard.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Will Never Call for Money

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office wants to make one thing very clear:
They will NEVER call you asking for money.
They do not solicit donations or payments over the phone—ever.

What to Do If You Receive a Suspicious Call

If you get a call like this, hang up immediately. Do not give out personal information or payment of any kind. And if you’re unsure, call the Sheriff’s Department directly at 732-929-2044 to verify.
