That's according to Leslie Terjesen with the Ocean County Health Department (OCHD). She says there's still time to get your flu shot, even if the unseasonably warm weather has let it slip your mind.

"Once it starts getting colder and people are indoors, that's a great way for germs to spread," Terjesen said. "People are sharing airspace, people are sharing doorknobs."

But there's an even bigger reason for parents of younger children to make sure their kids get protected.

"Children who are under the age of 60 months in a licensed daycare have to get their flu shot this month," Terjesen said. "Because they can be excluded from school at the end of the month."

There is a grace period through the month of January. If you or your child still need to get a flu shot, find a list of the OCHD's clinics by clicking here. They'll be going on through March.
