Toms River Police Department spokesman Ralph Stocco said that the risk of people with loaded weapons on the perimeter predicated the move, in an abundance of caution.
The initial report reached police at about 3 PM. Officers set about combing the forested sections. The lockdown was lifted by 4 PM, after a thorough search yielded no trace of trespassers.
