A 29-year old man from Lake Hopatcong remains hospitalized after a drowning accident that occurred on Saturday night in Ortley Beach.

Toms River Police Spokeswoman Jillian Messina said officers were dispatched to Churchill Drive around 8:00 pm for a possible drowning.

Officers learned when they arrived that the man dove off the side of a dock head first into shallow water while visiting a friend's house.

The 29-year old became unconscious and was underwater for about 2-minutes before being removed from the water.

He was brought to a landing zone at Winding River by Medics and then flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

His current condition is unknown as of Monday morning.
