It appears the ongoing pipeline project New Jersey Natural Gas was upgrading along this stretch of Route 9 is wrapping up as new work is about to get underway.

Starting next week, by Wednesday July 7, the NJ DOT will be sending in road crews through its contractor Earle Asphalt, to work on Route 9 between Jones Road and Longboat Avenue, according to Berkeley Township officials.

Your driving may be slowed down at times as work will be done between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm one day and 9:00 pm to 5:30 am the next day.

The contractor anticipates that complete lane/road closures are possible as crews work on Route 9 in both directions.

The total length of the project is about 8.34 miles, affecting Berkeley, Lacey, Pine Beach and Beachwood as well.

By the time the crews are done, the goal is to upgrade the electrical, milling, paving, striping and concrete areas of this stretch of Route 9 in Ocean County as well as repave it and improve traffic signals and ADA curb ramps.
