
News Update: Infestation Has Closed Sandy Hook’s Campground Until Further Notice
INFESTATION CLOSES SANDY HOOK CAMPGROUND
NJ.com is reporting that the campground at Sandy Hook is "closed until further notice". They report that "Sandy Hook’s campground, located in New Jersey’s portion of the Gateway National Recreation Area in Monmouth County, is closed until further notice due to an infestation of pests, officials said Friday."

NJ.com added "Gateway officials called the response an “emergency,” but did not disclose what type of invasive species led to the closure."
We will keep you posted on any additional news about the Sandy Hook Campground. According to NJ.com, "Some campers who used the area in recent months said on social media the campground was infested with Pennsylvania wood cockroaches, a species often carried to campgrounds on firewood."
