New York man charged with trying to cash fraudulent check in Ocean Township

Police in Monmouth's Ocean Township have charged a New York man for trying to cash a fraudulent check with a phony ID at the TD Bank on West Park Avenue Tuesday.

Michael Serulle, 39, New York, New York is being charged with Possession of False Government Documents, Uttering a Forgery and Attempted Theft by Deception following his arrest Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to the TD Bank around 2 pm for reports of a man attempting to cash a fraudulent check and when they arrived they spotted Serulle in the parking lot trying to leave.

Serulle was trying to use a fake name to cash a fake check which led to his arrest and release on a criminal complaint pending a future day in court.
