New Jersey’s Oldest Military Base in Morris County is Amazing Part of American History
This article mixes history and patriotism and our amazing members of the United States Military Family. We are going to take a trip through history and take a look at the oldest most historic military bases in America. A look at the 28 most historic military bases in the U.S.
In a recent article by 24/7 Wall St, the 28 most historic military bases were listed. According to their research, the oldest military base in America is located in Pennsylvania.
Established in 1776 Carlisle Barracks Army Base is located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. There is 515 total active duty personnel. Carlisle Barracks is 246 years old. By the way, the second oldest is Westpoint. The US Military Academy Army Base West Point was founded in 1790. Westpoint has 1,518 total active duty personnel.
Here in New Jersey, our most historic military base is located in Wharton, Morris County. According to 24/7 Wall St, Picatinny Arsenal Army Base is #26 on the list of most historic in America. Picatinny Arsenal has 124 active-duty personnel.

In addition, according to the Picatinny website, "Picatinny Arsenal is the Joint Center of Excellence for Guns and Ammunition, providing products and services to all branches of the U.S. military."
So once again we have another piece of the American story with roots right here in New Jersey. A true piece of U.S. Military history and we thank our service members for their dedication and service to our nation.
