Residents of New Jersey certainly don't agree on everything, but the fact that the Garden State has some of the best food in the nation is not one of them.

There is no doubt that New Jersey food is a source of pride for everyone who lives here, but a recent ranking of state in America by their food is sure to cause some controversy around here.

The controversy doesn't stem from the fact that New Jersey didn't have a good showing in the report. We actually did. The controversy comes with how well we did or didn't do.

The report was issued by Far & Wide, and they probably thought ranking us as the state with the 8th best food in the nation would satisfy us. Not so fast.

We would be happy to be the 8th least friendly, eighth-most congested, or the eighth most expensive. That would be a higher ranking than we expected.

But when it comes to our food, that is a completely different animal. You can't put new Jersey food at #8 and expect us to just be quiet about it.

There is no doubt in the mind of any New Jersey resident that our food is simply the best. Not second, not third, and certainly not 8th.

The article discusses our domination of the diner and pizza industry, and rightfully so, but how could you possibly leave out the fresh seafood that no one does better than we do.

And I don't think nearly enough is being made of our absolute Italian food domination, in both quantity and quality.

So, while #8 is nothing to be ashamed of, we here in the Garden State politely reject our ranking of #8 and kindly ask that the reviewers take a summer trip to our Jersey shore for some waterfront fresh seafood or pasta, and we'll all sit back and watch our ratings go up as we digest and wait for our tiramisu.
