Have you ever wanted to break a world record?

Maybe you know of the guy from Idaho who broke 52 world records in one year.

Pretty neat stuff.

Well, let's refocus from Idaho to right here in Ocean County where one woman is trying to break a world record of her own.

Not only is it an attempt at a world record, but it's also going to go and help a fantastic cause.

Local woman Sandy Rinderer told Bob Vosseller of Jersey Shore Online that she wants to organize more than 329 boats, kayaks or canoes to come together and cruise the Barnegat Bay.

329 vessels cruising at one time is the world record set by Poland according to the article, and I feel as though we could get at least 330 folks out for this right here in Ocean/Monmouth County.

Paddle for the Bay is Scheduled for August 20th

It's only ten bucks to register your vessel according to Jersey Shore Online and in addition to local residents, the Pine Beach Yacht club as well as Township Search and Rescue will assist with reaching the goal.

All proceeds from the event will go to Save Barnegat Bay who's mission statement is as follows:

Save Barnegat Bay was founded in 1971 with the mission to restore and protect the Barnegat Bay and its ecosystem. We advance our mission by being a strong and independent voice for the Bay throughout the watershed, including all of Ocean and part of Monmouth Counties

If you're feeling in particularly inspired, be sure to see what volunteer opportunities are available on the Save Barnegat Bay's website.

This seems like a really fun way to not only spend a day out on the water but also support a good cause, and ensure that the Barnegat Bay has a healthy future ahead!
