Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Turkey may be the least tasty meat, but the entire meal overall is my favorite.

I rank my holidays by food/weather.

  1. Thanksgiving (give me all of the sweet potato casserole and stuffing)
  2. St. Patrick's Day (I love corned beef and boiled potatoes)
  3. Easter (Springtime and pretty Easter dresses when I was a kid...I also love ham)

When I was a kid and into my adult life, I would stay over at my grandparent's house Wednesday night to help with dinner the next day.

As a kid, I would help my grandpa spread pimento cheese on Ritz Crackers. That was the extent of my culinary expertise at the time.

I would also put the napkins into napkin rings I made in Girl Scouts with cut toilet paper rolls and construction paper.

It was one of my favorite days of the year, spending it with my grandparents and feeling so proud of my contributions to the dinner.

When I got older I would help my grandma with the turkey and then as an adult, I would stay over so I could wake up bright and early to take care of the turkey.

My grandma and I would watch the parade and then of course watch The National Dog Show.

I really moved up in the world of responsibility, from spreading cheese on crackers to making the turkey.

When my parents, brothers, and I got home we would watch Home Alone to kick off the Christmas season.

Thanksgiving is filled with wonderful traditions, each unique to the family they belong to.

I asked you on Facebook what your favorite Thanksgiving traditions are.
