Did you see New York's most recent COVID-19 related announcement?

It's kind of intense but it got me thinking and of course, I've got an opinion AND an idea.

Kicking off on August 16th, New York residents will not be allowed to take part in "indoor activities" if they are not vaccinated. If people want to participate, they must have their vaccination card as proof.

When I was reading about this, I knew that there would be an uproar. There are people who do not want to be vaccinated and it is not my place -- or anyone else's place for that matter --  to demand anything of anyone when it comes to your body.

But a common follow up question that I've seen online is: "Will New Jersey pass a similar rule?"

Governor Phil Murphy has not issued any statements on this topic just yet but I would be he is considering it.

Here is my thought....I think we should copy New York's new rule TEMPORARILY but it is not for the reason you think.

I think we need to give this a try as an experiment...a test if you will because let's face it, we need more information on this Delta Variant.

I have heard of various cases where a fully vaccinated person tested positive for COVID-19. In some cases...people have contracted the virus twice because of the new variant.

So let's say for two weeks, you are only allowed to go to high-risk areas but only if you are vaccinated.

I know there is an incubation period that has to be factored in but if we take a look at the COVID-19 cases after some time has passed, we will have a lot of answers.

How many new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in this time span?

How many of these new cases are the Delta variant?

How effective is the COVID-19 Vaccine against the Delta variant?

If numbers are still high, then medical professionals know that we have to go back to the drawing board.

If numbers remain low, then other variables have to be analyzed as to why the Delta variant is still able to make its way around.

I already know what some of you are thinking to yourselves: "Why should those who choose to remain unvaccinated be punished by not being allowed to go out?"

It's not meant to be a punishment and if we do this during the Summertime, people could still eat at restaurants and what not as long as they remain outdoors.

We already know how COVID-19 and the Delta variant square up against an immune system with no vaccine. This would be for information purposes only.

So no matter what this experiment shows, we return to the original rules that were being followed prior.

I know tensions have been running high surrounding COVID-19 because everyone has different views, opinions and well...they are SICK OF IT!

I get it and I know that there will be people out there who totally disagree with this opinion piece so let's talk about it!

I am someone who needs to talk about something if it is on my mind. It's almost like I talk through my anxiety.

Stay safe everyone.

So now to lighten things up, what do you say we talk about baked goods instead?
