New Jersey man wanted for attempted murder at Toms River hotel is arrested
The Millville man wanted for attempted murder at the Howard Johnson hotel on Hooper Avenue in Toms River March 3 was found Friday and arrested, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Toms River Police Chief Mitch Little announced.
The U.S. Marshals Service picked up 34-year old Carles Bryant in Atlantic City and brought him to the Ocean County Jail where Prosecutor Billhimer said he will remain lodged pending a detention hearing.
Bryant is accused of stabbing a woman in the head, face and across her body during the heat of an argument in the hotel lobby.
He took off and when Toms River Police arrived on scene around 10:30 pm they found the woman unresponsive on the floor.
She was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries and has since been released from medical care.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and Toms River Police Detectives then ran an investigation which identified Bryant as the attacker and led to a warrant being issued for his arrest.
He is charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Contempt.
