Each autumn, as the waves settle and the summer crowds fade, a new tide rolls in along the Jersey Shore, one powered by volunteers, not vacationers.

This weekend (Saturday, October 18th, 2025), community members in Berkeley Township and beyond are invited to take part in Clean Ocean Action’s Annual Fall Beach Sweeps, according to patch.com.

This is a beloved tradition that brings people together with one goal in mind: keeping New Jersey’s coastlines clean, safe, and beautiful.

Clean-ups take place on Saturday, October 18th, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at multiple locations across the state including several right here in Berkeley Township.

This hands-on event, now in its 39th year, has grown into one of the largest environmental clean-ups on the East Coast. What started as a small grassroots effort has evolved into a statewide movement and every candy wrapper, bottle cap, and plastic bag collected makes a real difference.

“Each piece of trash removed is one less hazard for marine life and one more step toward protecting our coastline for future generations,” said a Clean Ocean Action representative. “It’s a powerful reminder of what communities can achieve when we work together.”

Volunteers of all ages are welcome! So grab your gloves, gather your friends, and head out to the shore this Saturday. Together, we can make a visible impact and keep our coastline shining.

Because when it comes to protecting the ocean, every hand helps, and every piece of trash picked up brings us one step closer to a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful New Jersey.
