Neighbors Rally to Help Hospitalized Sunken House Boat Owner
Friends rally to remove items from a sunken houseboat in Toms River while the boat's owner recuperates in a hospital.
According to the Asbury Park Press, Friday's cleanup was prompted by a visit to the Pier 1 Marina from a township code enforcer who issued a summons and gave the marina owner 48 hours to remove the vessel.
The marina owner explained that the boat owner was hospitalized at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center but the code enforcer explained that he didn't have the authority to give extensions.
The marina owner and neighbors from the Adams Avenue community organized an effort to carry out furniture, appliances and other items from the boat, at times wading through the water.
