Today, January 15th, would have been Dr. Martin Luther King's 83rd birthday. As America celebrates the national holiday today, his impact continues to touch the lives of many people including Monmounth County resident , Dr. Franca Mancini.Dr. Mancini is the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services as her Alma Mater, Monmouth University. As a 17-year-old Freshman, she attended Dr. King's speech at Monmouth University (then called Monmouth College) during October of 1966.

She describes the atmosphere of the packed audience in the Monmouth Gymnasium back on October 6, 1966: "I could feel the emotion and electricity in the room. We were ready for the speech on an emotional level…But physically, there was a feeling of something really important happening".
