It was nice to see so many area restaurants busy for Mother’s Day on Sunday as it was a stark contrast from a year ago when many of us could not even see Mom as we were in the early stages of the pandemic.  At best you were able to order take-out last May but Sunday was a sure sign that things are getting closer to normal. I was fortunate to not only celebrate the day with my wife but my 93-year old mother as 11 of us gathered for a wonderful early dinner at Café Italia in Toms River.

Has it dawned on you that we are only three weeks away from Memorial Day?  At times it doesn’t seem that way because we have been in a weather pattern of unseasonably cool temperatures although it looks like we’ll finally get into the 70’s on a consistent basis by later this week.  Can’t happen soon enough…my wardrobe is pretty limited when it comes to anything but shorts, polo shirts and topsiders.

It’s starting to look like this could be a fun summer for fans of the Yankees, Mets & Phillies although rooting for them will likely result in plenty of stress at times.

With network prime-time TV shows coming to an end for the season I need to jump on some streaming series’ for the summer to fill time.  I just started watching “Mare of Easttown” on HBO Max which stars Kate Winslet but it’s only four episodes…wish it was longer.  By the way I am amazed at how so many English actors easily take on American roles in TV shows and movies without any signs of their native accents.  I know it works the other way as well but we don’t see (and hear) as much of that.
