The 17-year-old who became the object of a four-day search this week contacted her parents from Washington, D.C., Thursday night, according to township police.

She was kept in protective custody by police in the nation's capital until family members retrieved her this morning.

Jordan never reported to school on Monday morning, had packed a suitcase and left a note at home, police said. She was believed to have been spotted the same night in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Police said that in light of family privacy, they'd issue no other details.
