Well, this is one form of mother-son bonding.

Although dating shows have gained popularity recently, they've been around for a while.  In the 1960s, The Dating Game put the genre on the map.  A bachelor or bachelorette would have to choose a date with one of three hidden suitors, based only on their responses to questions!

Since then, we've come a long way.  Single-episode matchmaking was replaced by a large cast of people looking to find love over the course of multiple episodes, like The Bachelor, and The Bachelorette.  Audiences tuned in weekly to watch the drama between cast members unfold, instead of seeing two strangers get paired on a date together.

Once The Bachelor franchise took the world by storm, writers got creative with ways to set their dating shows apart from the rest, adding gimmicks or twists to make the show more interesting.  For example, Love Island allows players to switch up their romantic partners throughout the show, while constantly introducing new cast members to interfere with existing relationships.

Netflix's Too Hot to Handle forces contestants to form intellectual bonds, by prohibiting all physical intimacy.  Love is Blind attempts to help contestants find marriage with partners they've never even seen before.

TLC is the latest network taking a stab at the dating game with its show MILF Manor.  The show follows older women looking to find love with younger men, as the title suggests.  However...there's an awkward twist.  The men hoping to capture the women's hearts are all their sons, and both parties had no clue until the show started.

Contestant Charlene DeCicco and her son Harrison are originally from Hammonton but now live in Los Angeles.  Per TLC, Charlene left a toxic marriage and wants to try dating some younger men.

Check out this interesting moment between Charlene and Harrison below:

I can't imagine how uncomfortable it must be to watch your mom date a bunch of guys your age while trying to date her fellow castmates.  But hey, whatever floats your boat!

MILF Manor airs Sunday nights at 10 on TLC, or you can stream it on Discovery +.
