The Middletown Township Department and Health and Social Services received confirmation that a resident of Tomaso Towers has tested positive for COVID-19 novel coronavirus, the 3rd such case in the township.

The resident is currently hospitalized. Any and all close contacts have been contacted directly by the Health Department.

The Middletown Health Department said that each of the cases will be continually monitored by local health officials.

These three case of Covid-19 coronavirus are among 32 overall cases in the latest tally announced on Wednesday by Governor Phil Murphy.

Middletown Mayor Tony Perry and Emergency Management Coordinator Charles Rogers, III signed a local declaration of disaster emergency on Monday which was enacted to protect the health and safety of the community.

Access to all municipal facilities has since been restricted through Tuesday, March 31.

"We also ask that you monitor yourself and family members for signs and symptoms of this virus, including fever, cough, shortness of breath or other respiratory illness. If you experience any of these, please contact your medical provider by phone before walking into their office."
