Meet One of Our U.S. Olympians from Right Here in Monmouth County, New Jersey
The Winter Olympics are underway in China and it seems like health and politics are more of the conversation than the actual athletic competitions. I think we saw more of the Presidents of China and Russia than actual athletes during the opening ceremonies. It's become the China/Russia games.
This is a shame because the athletes who have trained for years to get to this point are being less focused on, well my article today is going to focus on an athlete and not only that but a local athlete from New Jersey who is competing in China.

Despite all the "other" things going on associated with this year's Winter Olympic Games in China, we hope our U.S. athletes bring home the gold. I was watching the opening ceremonies and it's always a thrill to see TEAM USA make their way into the games for the first time, a lot of red, white, and blue for sure. Hope you had a chance to see the parade of nations and see TEAM USA too :)
This time around we have another New Jersey resident who will be representing the stars and stripes...actually we have a few, but only one from right here in Monmouth County. Former Rumson-Fair Haven star athlete Charlie Volker is representing TEAM USA on the Bobsled Team. Sarah Fitzgerald wrote a nice story filling in the background for us about Charlie...CLICK HERE to read her story.
Good luck to Charlie and GO TEAM USA a really local guy, from right here in Monmouth County.
