Get Ready For A Rare Blue Moon And Double Full Moons This May
I love taking photos of the moon. It's a great visual, and whenever we have a cool full moon, I try to get my Nikon out and grab a pic. If you can find a nice dark spot around your neighborhood and take your time and snap a few shots, I am sure one will be a keeper.

Since the recent trip around the moon by NASA, it seems there is a renewed interest in the moon, and there is much more to come. The folks aboard Artimus II had a real show, and I'm sure we will see more great photos from the "dark side of the moon" in the coming months.
When Is The "Blue Moon" In May?
Let's first define a "Blue MOON." It's not blue but rather a play on the phrase "once in a blue moon," which basically means something that does not happen often. A "Blue Moon" is when you have two full moons in one month, and it doesn't happen that often. The second full moon is the "Blue Moon."
The full moons in May include "the Flower Moon, peaking on May 1 at 1:23 p.m. EDT, and a second, a Blue Moon, occurring on May 31 at 4:45 a.m. EDT." According to Royal Museums Greenwich.
So this Friday is our first full moon, known as the "Flower Moon", and then at the end of the month is the second full moon, known as the "Blue Moon". Be sure to catch both in May!
