Margate, NJ man heading to prison for distributing child porn
A judge has sentenced a Margate man to 15-years in prison on a slate of child porn related charges, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The lewd behavior 40-year old Robert Ferry was sentenced for occurred between March of 2018 and March of 2019, when on 10 different occasions, he would share items with a computer that was being used but the Department of Homeland Security.
Acting Prosecutor Shill said that on each of those 10 occasions, Ferry's device shared pictures and videos of children involved in sexual acts or situations, with the Department of Homeland Security's undercover computer program.
An investigation followed and law enforcement learned that the device belonging to Ferry had an IP address inside his apartment and through it, he was sharing child porn on a BitTorrent file sharing program.
A year into the investigation, Ferry was charged on April 19, 2019 and on September 23, 2021, he was found guilty on the child porn charges by an Atlantic county jury following a two day trial.
In addition to his 15-year prison sentence, Ferry received a mandatory 10-year period of parole ineligibility and must be on Megan’s Law Registration and Parole Supervision for Life.
Acting Prosecutor Shill said that the case was investigated by the ACPO Computer Crimes Unit and the Department of Homeland Security and that Assistant Prosecutor Dave Ruffenach represents the state in the matter.
