At an October meeting in the Civic Center of the municipal complex, Chief Lisa Parker disclosed that investigators have completed arrests and confiscated weapons and cars related to the incidents.

"You can help us better serve you by being additional sets of eyes and ears," Parker told the group. "We encourage you to contact us with any information you feel may be important, and we will always follow up."

Police advised attendees to:

  • Call headquarters, 732-657-6111.
  • Enter information through the Tip Line portal at the Manchester Police web page.
  • Receive texts via the Nixle system. Enroll by texting 08759 to 888777.
  • "Like" the Manchester Police Facebook page and send information through the message function.
  • In an emergency or crisis situation, skip the digital tip line and call 911 or headquarters.

Police said that tips can be sent anonymously, and that "it is not necessary for an officer in a marked police vehicle to complete a follow up visit to a tipster's home."

Detective Sergeant Christopher Hemhauser and Detective Richard Jupinka reminded residents of the value of leaving outdoor lights operating at night, reporting street light outages promptly to Jersey Central Power and Light, reporting suspicious activity or vehicles, and generally becoming familiar with neighbors.

Given the tendency for neighborhoods in disrepair to lure crime, Township Council President Brendan Weiner told attendees about the recently-passed municipal ordinance that lets the township repair and clean up dilapidated properties if the owner refuses to do so. The owner is then slapped with a lien on the property, to recover the cost.

Also attending were Township Council members Craig Wallis, James Vaccaro and Sam Fusaro.
