It was a meet-up gone wrong in so many ways.

Two people were communicating on Snapchat and a woman was interested in what the young man was selling so they decided to meet in person.

The woman then turned the tables on the young man when they met outside the Dollar General on Route 37 in Manchester Township.

Manchester Police said that when the two met, the woman poured a water bottle filled with gasoline all over the 18-year-old man she was meeting with and then held a butane torch to the young man threatening him until he handed over sneakers, clothes, and nearly $300.00 in cash, and his cell phone.

Police were able to identify Hester as the suspect in the case and as Detective Victoria Guarino continued investigating the case, she gathered evidence and made an arrest.

Hester was charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of Weapons, Possession of Weapons for Unlawful Purposes, and Theft, and then brought to Ocean County Jail where she remains, pending a detention hearing.

Following this incident, Manchester Township Police want to remind all that there is a “Safe Exchange Zone” at the Municipal Complex where you can meet with people you're selling something to or buying from be it online or elsewhere so that it's in a safe environment under 24-hour surveillance for both parties to complete the transaction.
