Manchester Accident Leaves Southampton Man Hospitalized

A Southampton 60-year-old narrowly avoids serious injury after being hit by a car in Manchester.

Police say Robert Denney was walking through the Wawa parking lot on Route 70 in the township's Whiting section at about 10:20 AM today, when he was struck by a 2005 Hyundai XG350 driven by Anthony R. Scifo, 23, of Manalapan.

Denney suffered leg and knee injuries and was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he was listed in stable condition.

No charges have been filed but the crash is being investigated by a township traffic safety officer.
