As the Jersey Shore and New Jersey prepares for the National Strategic Stockpile to arrive in the state, there is a shortage of many items first responders need including N95 respiratory masks.

In an effort to help out first responders at the Jersey Shore, the Manasquan Office of Emergency Management is holding a drive looking for the N95 masks this week.

From today at 12 pm until 5 pm and everyday through Saturday afternoon, the Manasquan OEM is standing at Manasquan High School collecting new respirator masks in unopened packaging for Nurses, Doctors and EMT's.

"Your local emergency managers are aware of a critical shortage of N95 protective respiratory masks for first responders, doctors and nurses. We need to protect our heroes on the front lines as they receive and treat patients infected with the COVID19. We cannot allow our doctors, nurses and EMT’s to fall ill or bring this home to their families because of a lack of personal protective equipment. Please help us deliver this vital protection to the ones who need it most. Our priority is to doctors and nurses in area hospitals as well as first responders," the Manasquan OEM said on Facebook.

A collection point has been established in the front horseshoe at Manasquan High School, 167 Broad St, Manasquan.

"We are requesting all residents, businesses and industries (construction, painters, carpenters, woodworkers, body shops etc.) look at their supplies and donate any available N95 respiratory (painter’s type) mask. Receipts for your donation will be provided."

In order to meet the current demand, Manasquan OEM will only be accepting New N95 rated respirator sealed in unopened packaging.

"Thank you for helping your shore healthcare workers & first responders!"
