Manahawkin woman charged with Careless Driving in Route 72 accident
A Manahawkin woman has been charged with careless driving in connection to a car accident on Route 72 at Nautilus Drive Saturday around 8:00 pm where she collided with a Kia which injured the driver.
Stafford Police say Mary Yeckley, 75, had been travelling eastbound on Route 72 and tried turning left onto Nautilus Drive in a 2003 four-door Kia when she collided with Michael Elassar,19, of Manahawkin who was heading westbound through the intersection and operating 2015 four-door Kia.
The vehicles collided in the intersection which caused heavy damage to both Kia's and that led to them being towed.
Yeckley and Elassar sustained minor injuries and were transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center.
A passenger in Yeckley’s vehicle sustained minor injuries and was also transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center.
Yeckley was issued a summons for Careless Driving.
Ptl. Brian Fenlon is the investigating Officer for the accident.
