A Monmouth County man who is allegedly responsible for one of three shootings in a 24-hour period last month between Long Branch and West Long Branch has been arrested and charged, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago.

The gunman from one of three shootings that took place over a 9-hour period between the late hours of October 10 and early morning hours of October 11, that Acting Prosecutor Santiago previously said was believed to be connected, has been identified as 27-year old Donte Gibson who is being charged with one count of first-degree Attempted Murder, one count of second-degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose, and one count of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Gibson's actions were traced to the first of the three shootings, of which occurred, along the 800 block of Broadway in West Long Branch around 9:45 pm on that Monday night.

Acting Prosecutor Santiago said that after this shooting, the victim was dropped off at a hospital for treatment for leg and forearm injuries, and was eventually released from care.

While Gibson has been identified as the shooter from the first incident, the other two shootings that took place in neighboring Long Branch remain under investigation.

The three shootings led to the rescheduling or cancellation of games and practices in Long Branch with the high school football team's game versus Neptune scheduled that Friday night being moved to the following morning and ordered to be played without spectators by the Long Branch Superintendent of Schools Francisco Rodriguez, as first reported by the Asbury Park Press and then confirmed by the Shore Sports Network.

Acting Prosecutor Santiago said that the Gibson shooting case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Bogner, Director of the MCPO Major Crimes Bureau, adding that legal representation for Gibson is not yet available.
