What Will You Be Doing Sunday?
Super Bowl Sunday is the national holiday that does not come with a day off although more than 17 million people will miss work on Monday, some taking the day off while others will call in sick. Super Bowl LX (that's 60) matches the New England Patriots against the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California with kickoff at 6:30pm.
In our area there is not a real “buzz” surrounding this game. The Seahawks play almost 3,000 miles away and to many (especially Jets fans) the Patriots are a villain who are easy to root against. When the playoffs started I was cheering for the Buffalo Bills who once again managed to let their fans down. With no local team in the game Sunday is more about THE EVENT which has become a national celebration although I’m always interested in knowing what those who don’t watch the game will be doing.
House parties will once again be big with 20 million attending one with an average of 17 people. Those parties will feature favorites like chicken wings, pizza, nachos, pigs in a blanket, subs, chips and more. It will be washed down with over 50 million cases of beer and some will start the next day with a package of Rolaids. Many will not really care about the game but are more interested in the commercials (many of which have already been released) and the halftime show featuring Bad Bunny. I’d much prefer a good college marching band.
As for the game itself. The Seahawks are playing at a very high level but do you trust quarterback Sam Darnold in such a big spot? The Patriots have had a pretty easy road to this game and Drake Maye has had an MVP season. The road ends here and Seattle wins 23-20 and I’ll be sick because I don’t have 3-0 in a box pool.
Enjoy the game!
