This past week saw numerous demonstrations, marches, and protests across New Jersey, nationally, and worldwide in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on Memorial Day.

As the first full week of demonstrations and events draws to a close, a number of organized and publicly planned events are set for Ocean and Monmouth Counties in the coming days:

Friday, June 5th

Asbury Park - March organized by PEACEBYU - Liberty Square Park - 3:00 P.M.

**Toms River - March for Solidarity - Huddy Park - 6:00 P.M.

** The March For Solidarity in Toms River has been postponed by the organizers of the protest.

 

Saturday, June 6th

Lakewood - Starting at Clifton Avenue Grade School - 1:00 P.M.

Stafford Township - Over the LBI Bridge - More info from the Stafford Township Police

 

Sunday, June 7th

Jackson - Peaceful protest against racism - Johnson Park - 4:00 P.M.

 

Monday, June 8th

Brick - Windward Beach Park - 3:00 P.M.

 

The above list includes events that have been planned, organized, and reported publicly and does not include events, demonstrations, and protests that may be loosely organized or spontaneous.

Locally, these events follow multiple demonstrations and protests that have taken place across the area this past week, including the march in Toms River this past Tuesday, June 2nd.

The Toms River event started at the Kohl's Plaza on Route 37 at Main Street and went down Main Street and onto Washington Street. It not only included members of the community, but also members of the Toms River Police Department marching in solidarity with the community.
