Lightning Strikes in Point Pleasant Beach, Two Injured
As severe storms rocked parts of Ocean County yesterday, two Point Pleasant beachgoers are lucky to be alive today.
Multiple news outlets are reporting that not one, but two women were struck by lightning within moments of each other in Point Beach during the heights of Saturday afternoon's storms.
The first strike hit a woman on New Jersey Avenue. Minutes later, a woman on Ocean Avenue was struck while in her car.
Both were rushed to Ocean Medical Center and are expected to recover.
Speaking personally, I was only a few miles away when the violent storms moved through and the vivid thunder and lighting arrived. We sometimes forget the danger of nature when enjoying the summer, but this should serve as a reminder that when severe thunderstorm warnings are issued for the area, moving indoors immediately is the best plan.
