There’s a decent chance some of you woke up this morning and looked out your door or window and thought you must have had a dream that it snowed on Wednesday.

I mean in some places there’s hardly a trace of the white stuff even though we got a few inches depending on where you live.  Let me assure you that it was not a dream but the predicted changeover to rain did take place and washed much if not most of the snow away.

That seems to be a microcosm of this winter at the Jersey Shore as when it does snow it then changes over to sleet and rain and is gone pretty quickly.  We are just a month away from spring and really have had no significant snowstorm and only one or two stretches of really cold weather.

I likely just jinxed that but there is clearly light at the end of the winter tunnel.

Toms River is the place to be for basketball and wrestling fans tonight.  The boys semifinals in the Shore Conference Basketball Tournament will take place at the RWJBarnabas Health Arena with the Ranney road show stopping at Toms River North.

Bryan Antoine, Scottie Lewis and the rest of the high-flying Panthers face Freehold Township in the 6 p.m. opener and then Manasquan takes on CBA in the nightcap as the top four seeds have indeed reached the final four.  Doors open at 4:45 tonight with the winners to meet in Saturday’s 5 p.m. championship game at Monmouth University’s OceanFirst Bank Center.

The girls championship matchup is set with 13-time champion St. John Vianney  to face the new kids of the block in Manchester Township.

Tonight’s semifinal action and Saturday’s championship doubleheader will be streamed live on shoresportsnetwork.com and on the Shore Sports Network Facebook page.

The Region 7 Wrestling Championships were scheduled to begin last night on the campus of Toms River North but were postponed because of the snow throughout New Jersey.  They will now open tonight at Toms River High School East before returning to the RWJBarnabas Health Arena Friday and Saturday.
