The Lakewood man who stabbed another resident and then attacked a police officer inside the municipal building last year has been sentenced to a decade in prison.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced that Reginald Patillo, 48, was sentenced to ten years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with an Aggravated Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b which occurred at the Lakewood Township Municipal Building on February 7, 2019.
Patillo's sentence will be subject to the terms of the No Early Release Act, N.J.S.A. 2C:43-7.2, requiring him to serve 85 percent of his ten year sentence.
He was also sentenced to four years in prison for Aggravated Assault against a Law Enforcement Officer in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(5)(a).
The sentences will run concurrently.
Patillo pleaded guilty to both charges before Judge Collins on November 18, 2019.
It was around 11:00 am on February 7, 2019, when Patillo attacked a Lakewood resident as they entered an elevator on the second floor.
Patillo stabbed the resident multiple times in the neck and head area.
Municipal workers heard the altercation and sounded a panic alarm, prompting Lakewood Police Officers to respond to the scene.
While being questioned, Patillo attacked one of the police officers by striking him with a closed fist.
Patillo was subdued and placed into custody and the knife was recovered.
