New Jersey driver indicted for carelessly causing three vehicle accident that killed Brick resident
A Lakewood man's road rage led to a three-vehicle accident in Brick Township last summer which led to a driver's death and subsequent charges and now an indictment for the man who allegedly started it all.
Avrohom Pam, 20, of Lakewood has been indicted by a Grand Jury in Ocean County for Death by Auto and Assault by Auto in the crash that took the life of 26-year-old Sean Avon of Brick on the night of June 11, 2021, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.
Through their investigation into the crash, Lakewood Police along with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Vehicular Homicide Squad, and Ocean County Sheriff's Office CSI Unit learned that Pam and John Arendt, Jr., 73, of Brick Township had been in a verbal argument and what followed it was the crash.

It's alleged that Pam was driving recklessly in a 2021 Ford Van in the furthest right lane of Lanes Mills Road when he suddenly struck the 2019 Honda CRV driven by Arendt Jr. and due to the force involved in the collision, the CRV spun around and struck a 2012 Ford Mustang head-on in the northbound lanes.
The driver of the third vehicle, Sean Avon, suffered severe injuries and was brought to Ocean Medical Center in Brick, according to Prosecutor Billhimer, and passed away at the hospital.
Arendt was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he was treated for his undisclosed injuries and was later released from care.

Prosecutor Billhimer said that Pam stayed at the scene of the accident and didn't require any medical attention.
Pam was arrested, charged, and then processed at Lakewood Police Headquarters and brought to the Ocean County Jail.
He was then released due to New Jersey's Bail Reform Law.
Prosecutor Billhimer also said that Ocean County Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Robert Cassidy presented the case to the Grand Jury on behalf of the State.
