Lakewood house fire was set intentionally, prosecutors say
A fire that sent emergency crews to a Lexington Avenue home in Lakewood earlier this month was intentionally set, according to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Unit and Lakewood Police are continuing the investigation into the Lexington Avenue Apartments fire that was dispatched in on August 2 around 11:27 pm.
The fire was contained to the front wall of the three-story rooming house and would ultimately displace 29 adults and 8 children who were evacuated from the building.
The scene examination conducted by the above partnering agencies, with assistance from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CIU and Fire Marshals Office, determined that the fire was intentionally set.
