It was a thriller in Lakewood this afternoon as the BlueClaws turned a getaway day matinee into one for the team record books with a no-hitter against the Charleston RiverDogs.

Phillies farmhand Nick Fanti threw only the second solo no-hitter in club history today, and just barely missed out on a perfect game with just a single walk in the second inning.

Not only did Fanti throw a no-no today, but it was actually the second that he was a part of this season. Back in May he was part of a combined no-hitter against Tim Tebow and the Columbia Fireflies.

The BlueClaws other solo no-hitter in club history, was pitched by Gavin Floyd back in 2002.

The pitching line for Fanti is pretty impressive, facing just one over the minimum of 27 hitters, with a full 9 innings pitched, that one walk, and a dozen strikeouts.

Yes, he struck out almost half the guys he faced.

Our huge congratulations goes out to Nick Fanti and the Lakewood BlueClaws for an impressive showing here in the second half of the season!
