Knights of Columbus Council holding softball fundraiser to help Toms River family
Sports have a way of bringing us together and bringing out the best in us as individuals and a community, especially during the hard times.
A Toms River family continues to mourn the loss of a husband, father and just an overall great guy who passed away over a year ago from a sudden massive heart attack.
Kevin Delmonico passed away in July of 2019 at the age 42-years old and is survived by his wife Melissa and their two children.
He was very involved with the local Knights of Columbus council (St. Joseph's Council #4969) where he oversaw several charitable events the Knights held while he was the Council President including a coat drive for children, a Christmas food basket drive where the Knights delivered food to about 200 needy families every Christmas season in the Toms River area as well as a Knights of Columbus state bowling tournament.
In his honor and memory, Kevin's brother Knights started an annual softball tournament fundraiser last year with all the proceeds going to his family at home.
The 2nd Annual Kevin Delmonico Memorial Softball Tournament is being held November 21 at Winding River Park in Toms River that will also include a 50/50 raffle and food concessions.
The Knights of Columbus is an international fraternity and non-profit organization who serves communities through charitable events, fundraisers, awareness of religious and public health issues and provides a forever bond among their members and families.
In 2018, the Knights of Columbus provided donations and support to help persecuted Christians in the Middle East and worked with Jersey Shore Congressman Chris Smith in helping provide aid and bring awareness to the problem.
