Now that I have your attention, you can start getting ready to celebrate the opening of a new and unique Monmouth County pizza shop!

I have a really good feeling about this place... I am thrilled to be getting the word out about Killer Pies, which will be opening this September in Asbury Park.

As you know, Asbury Park is becoming a well-known Jersey Shore pizza destination. You can enjoy tasty pizza at successful places like Talula's, Medusa Stone Fired Kitchen, Porta, and of course the FREE pizza from Johnny Mac's. Killer Pies plans to bring something different to Asbury Park...

Unexpected, Whimsical, & Nostalgic. Those were the three words Andrew Mahnken used to best describe his soon-to-be-open pizza shop. Killer Pies won't be your stereotypical pizza restaurant, it will offer a 1990's rock & roll/ hip hop vibe. There will be old-school designs and bright colors all over the walls. Killer Pies will be truly reinventing a fun pizza shop atmosphere. Think about it, all pizza shops look the same, you usually eat a quick slice and walk out, there's never anything special about sitting in a pizza shop. Now, your pizza-eating experience will be different but more fun at Killer Pies! This will be a tremendous addition to Asbury Park. Oh and keep in mind, expect this to be some of the best pizza in town!

Andrew Mahnken:

Allow us to introduce ourselves! We are Killer Pies. A nod to classic pizza joints with a new school take. Amazing NY style, thin-crust slices with a house-made soft drink program that can only be born and bred in downtown Asbury Park, NJ. We can’t wait to meet you.

Killer Pies will be located at 629 Mattison Ave. It's the old bank on the corner of Mattison & Bond Street.

A few important notes about Killer Pies... owners Andrew Mahnken & Dennis Masel will bring a "slice and a soda experience." Many Asbury Park pizza restaurants have great pizza but they don't have pizza by the slice. In addition, Killer Pies plans to work with other local restaurants and chefs. For example, Chris Calabrese of Nettie's House of Spaghetti will be the culinary director. Expect to also have a one-of-a-kind soft drink experience. Instead of diet coke, you will be able to order unique soft drink creations like "Ginger, Lemon, and Honey."

When I asked Andrew about an opening date, he said Killer Pies will be opening sometime in September. It's a waiting game now... before experiencing this awesome place, stay up to date on their Instagram, or click the Killer Pies website.

Asbury Park On The List? Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
