Five and dimes or 5 &10's were hopping fifty years ago. Now they're hard to find. We have two of the oldest in the U.S. here in New Jersey. I love this so much!

I grew up with one of the oldest and still running 5 &10's in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. I still go to this place when I go home to visit family.

Memories of Milkshakes, Candy Counters, and Nostalgia

The memories rush back to when I was younger. From the smells to the food counter and the thick milkshakes I used to get well over 40 years ago, they still taste the same.

This five-and-dime store is well over 100 years old and different generations have owned and managed it. It is such a place of nostalgia, my Nana, and so many warm feelings.

I was just researching 5 & 10's here in New Jersey and I couldn't believe there are two close by.

Why These Stores Still Matter Today

Two of the oldest in the country are right here at the Jersey Shore. One in Ocean County and one in Ocean City. Both of these have been open for well over 50 years and are still running to this day.

Two five-and-dime stores still running here at the Jersey Shore are Surf City 5 & 10 on Long Beach Island and Hoy's 5 & 10 in Ocean City, Stone Harbor, and Avalon.

Surf City 5 & 10 is located in Surf City on LBI. For more than 50 years this store has been running in Ocean County. Every spring they open for another great season at the Shore.

Hoy's 5 & 10 has several locations in South Jersey. There are two that are open through the winter with one of them being in Ocean City. Two others in South Jersey will open in April to get ready for another great season at the Jersey Shore.

Generations of Families Still Visit Every Summer

These 5 & 10's are a treasure. Both Surf City 5 & 10 and Hoy's 5 & 10 are both treasures and being here at the beach, some great beach swag is available while shopping at these locations.
