Jekyll The Great White Spotted Off Long Beach Island New Jersey
Is it ironic that here we are days away from Halloween and we have a shark named "Jekyll" off the coast of New Jersey? Do you remember the story of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde? If not according to Goodreads "Robert Louis Stevenson's masterpiece of the duality of good and evil in man's nature sprang from the darkest recesses of his own unconscious—during a nightmare from which his wife awakened him, alerted by his screams. More than a hundred years later, this tale of the mild-mannered Dr. Jekyll and the drug that unleashes his evil, inner persona—the loathsome, twisted Mr. Hyde—has lost none of its ability to shock." Ironic it's Halloween time and Jekyll is making the rounds. It is understandable because it's migration season for the sharks and this is part of the vacation package for sharks.
According to Patch, "Dubbed "Jekyll" by shark tracker organization OCEARCH, this 8-foot shark was first pinged off the coast of Long Beach Island late Wednesday night. A ping means that the shark's dorsal fin broke surface long enough for his tag to be picked up by satellite, giving researchers his location." No idea how long Jekyll will be in Jersey waters, but Jekyll is on the move!
If you would like to track Jekyll CLICK HERE for the Ocearch link and follow the Great White. "Jekyll (named for Jekyll Island, Georgia, where he was found, not the literary character) is a juvenile white shark measuring 8 feet, 8 inches and weighing 395 pounds, according to OCEARCH." Jekyll was tracked yesterday off the coast of Atlantic City.
