Jackson Police are looking for witnesses as they investigate a motor vehicle crash that took place on Route 571 on Monday afternoon (Toms River Rd) near the Regional Day School around 5:30 pm.

A preliminary investigation shows that a 2019 Nissan Sentra with five people inside was traveling Southbound when it went off the right side of the roadway striking a tree.

While the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, police say it appears that only the driver, Roberto Bonilla, 22, of Toms River and one rear seat passenger were wearing their seat belts.

The front seat passenger, Amora Alvares, 21 of Bayville was brought to Jersey Shore Medical Center and is currently in serious condition.

The three Rear Seat Passengers are juveniles and their names will not being released but along with Bonilla they were brought to JSUMC for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The crash is under investigation by P.O. Jeffrey Henba and P.O. Edward Travisano of the Jackson Township Police Dept. Traffic Safety Bureau.
