A teenager has been charged in connection with gunfire in Egg Harbor City last month.

It was on the evening of Wednesday, January 21st, when Egg Harbor City police officers were called to the 200 block of Cincinnati Avenue. At the scene, authorities determined that multiple shots had been fired, but no one was hurt, and no buildings or property were hit.

An investigation led to four search warrants being executed in the city this past Friday.

Charges Filed

Following that police work, 19-year-old Shawn Thorpe of Egg Harbor City was arrested and charged with the following:

  • 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
  • 2 counts of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose
  • 2 counts of Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault

Thorpe was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending further court proceedings.

Another Arrest

Additionally, 31-year-old Gayla Hart from Egg Harbor City was taken into custody on unrelated outstanding warrants and released following processing.

The Egg Harbor City Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, New Jersey State Police, and the Atlantic City Police Department's SWAT Team.
